Hmm, I installed MP9 and the same thing happened to me.
To fix the problem, there are 2 registry keys to be deleted. Of course, the standard warning about backing up the registry FIRST applies here.
Run regedit, then... remove these keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\System Certificates\CA\Certificates\FEE449EE0E3965A5246F000E87FDE2A065FD89D4
Next:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MICROSOFT\System Certificates\Root\Certificates\2BD63D28D7BCD0E251195AEB519243C13142EBC3
I may have transposed some noughts with the letter 'o' but not to worry, there are only a few values at the end of each path described above, and none are similar.
My advice comes from another forum, the original poster received the info above and returned to say it worked, so I tried it and I'm still here!
Now to find a key so SP1 will install........
